Did You Know?
Cosmetic surgery increasingly popular with men Men increasingly desire to improve their appearance with the help of cosmetic surgery. A survey recently published by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) states a rising number of cosmetic procedures in men.
Compared with the previous year, the increase in procedures was 2 percent. While this number may not appear high, the growing numbers of specific procedures show the trend more clearly. A considerable increase was recorded for face lifts, ear surgery and botox treatments.
The number of procedures for skin tightening (face) has risen by 14 percent. This was followed by cosmetic ear corrections with an increase of 11 percent and liposuction with an increase of 7 percent compared to the previous year.
According to statistics, the list of minimally-invasive treatments is headed by botox (337,000 injections) for smoothing wrinkles.
90 percent of the total 13.1 million aesthetic and cosmetic surgery procedures carried out in the USA during the year 2010 were performed on women.
In comparison, the 1.1 million procedures performed on men constitute only a small portion of the total amount of procedures (approx. 9 percent), but as the numbers show, with potential for growth.
